About TDS

A software company that stays after launch.

Trevor Digital Solutions designs and builds practical technology for businesses and organisations — custom software, business systems, web and mobile applications, AI and automation, and trading technology. We are engineers first, and it shows in how we scope work, what we refuse to promise, and the fact that we are still maintaining the systems we built.

Who we are

Trevor Digital Solutions is a software engineering company in Kampala, Uganda. We build the systems businesses run on, and we stay on to maintain them.

Most of the work that reaches us starts the same way: a business has outgrown its spreadsheets. Numbers disagree between departments, stock cannot be trusted, reporting takes a week, and the workarounds have become the process. Off-the-shelf software would solve part of it and break another part.

So we build the system around the business instead. That means spending real time on discovery before writing code, scoping the work in writing, and engineering it to be maintained for years rather than demoed once. It also means telling clients when a project is not worth building, which costs us work and saves them more.

We work across custom software, business management systems, web and mobile applications, AI and automation, cloud infrastructure and trading technologies — for clients in Uganda and beyond.

Mission

To give growing businesses software they can actually rely on: built for their process, owned outright, and supported long after launch.

Vision

To be one of Africa's most trusted software engineering companies — known less for how much we build than for how well the things we build keep working.

Problems we solve

What usually brings a client here.

Almost every project starts with one of these six situations. None of them are software problems to begin with — they are operational problems that software turns out to be the cheapest way to fix.

  • The spreadsheets have stopped coping

Several versions of the same file, figures that disagree between departments, and a month-end close that takes a week of manual reconciliation.

  • Nothing talks to anything else

Sales, accounting and stock each hold their own copy of the truth, kept in step by staff re-typing the same data into three systems.

  • Off-the-shelf software does not fit

The package solves two thirds of the job and blocks the rest, and the vendor's roadmap has no interest in the way your organisation actually works.

  • Records live on paper

Files that take minutes to retrieve, cannot be searched, cannot be backed up, and give no reliable picture of what happened last quarter.

  • Staff time goes on repetitive work

Hours each week spent re-keying invoices, answering identical questions and moving data between systems by hand.

  • A previous build was abandoned

A system half-finished by someone who is no longer reachable, undocumented, and now nobody is willing to touch it.

Our approach

Scoped before it starts. Five stages, every time.

Whether a project runs four weeks or six months, you always know which stage you are in, what has to happen next, and what it costs. Nothing begins on a handshake.

  1. 01

    Discovery

We sit with the people who will use the system, map the workflow as it actually runs and agree what success looks like in measurable terms.

  2. 02

    Scope & plan

You get a written scope, an architecture outline, a timeline and a fixed price before any code is written. Nothing starts on a handshake.

  3. 03

    Build

Development in short cycles with a working demo at the end of each one, so you can redirect the work while redirecting is still cheap.

  4. 04

    Test & launch

Automated tests on critical paths, structured acceptance testing with your team, then a supervised release with monitoring and a rollback path.

  5. 05

    Support & improve

Maintenance, training and new features after go-live, informed by how the system is genuinely being used.

01

Say what is true

Honest timelines, honest limitations and honest test results, including the ones that are inconvenient for us. A client who is surprised late was misled early.

02

Understand before building

Most failed software solved a problem nobody had. We spend real time on discovery because the cheapest change is the one made before development starts.

03

Engineer for the long run

Typed, tested, documented code. Software is judged over years of maintenance, not on the day it is handed over.

04

Finish the job

Migration, training, monitoring and support are part of delivery, not extras. A system nobody was taught to use has not been delivered.

After launch

Quality is what survives the handover.

A system is judged over years of use, not on demo day. Four commitments that apply to every project we take on.

  • The handover is real

Source code, repository history, deployment configuration and documentation, transferred on completion. You are never dependent on us to keep operating.

  • Your team is trained

Hands-on sessions with the people who will use the system daily, plus written guides so someone hired next year can be brought up to speed.

  • Problems have an owner

Monitoring and alerting are configured before go-live, with a documented route for reporting a fault and a named person responsible for it.

  • The system keeps evolving

Maintenance, security updates and new features as real usage reveals what matters. Launch is a milestone in the work, not the end of it.
